This is the first in a series of four posts brought to you by VideofyMe. Capture your passion for fashion with the VideofyMe app.
Remember all those home movies your parents used to take when you were a kid? They’d get out the camcorder, load up a tape, and follow you for your first steps, your first day of kindergarten or blowing out the candles on your birthday.
Sure, it can be a little embarrassing to look back at your younger self – what you wore, how you acted – but it’s also incredibly powerful and nostalgic. Video captures so much more than a moment: the sounds, the words, that hilariously off-key rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
It’s sort of a funny idea that as it’s gotten easier and easier to shoot video (especially on your phone), we don’t seem to use it as often and as prolifically as we could. Especially in the realm of blogging, video content can be magic.
Here are 5 reasons your blog will benefit from video content, just in time for capturing the best summer moments:
1. It mixes up your content while maintaining your brand:
We know all about the difficulty of balancing a niche for your blog without pigeonholing yourself into a certain kind of content. You can bolster your current content (outfit posts, shopping hauls) with video, or create a totally new aspect of your site. You can turn the camera on yourself or on the world around you, think of it like an Instagram in motion – with sound!
2. Tap into a new audience through social sharing:
Many video platforms these days are so much more than a place to dump your content and then direct people to the URL. Along with embedding the video into a blog post on your site, you can join the community of your chosen platform, find fellow vloggers, follow them engage with an entirely new potential readership. With Twitter’s new updates, it’s also possible to watch video directly in the feed, so be sure to share your latest posts that way, too.
3. Some of your favorite bloggers are already doing it:
Check out Videofyme content from I Spy DIY, StyleScrapbook, The Blonde Salad and Fashion Chalet. Their videos run the gamut from dreamy, gorgeous close ups of new purchases to DIY projects and snippets of their lives and travel adventures. You can find tons of inspiration and see just how easy and cool video content can be.
4. Earn revenue:
With certain platforms like YouTube or Videofyme among others, you can earn money from ad sales. With YouTube, you must join their Partner Program and use Google AdSense. With Videofyme, the program is already built in but it is optional. This money comes from the amount of people that view your content, and how many times a video is played. While it may not earn you millions, revenue is revenue!
5. Engage your audience in a new way:
Video has the potential to be so much more interactive than any other content. You can start conversations, invite debates, and just excite your audience with a new glimpse into your life and style. A change of pace, a little silliness or honesty can really energize your followers, bring in new ones and alter the dynamic of your relationships with your readers.
The biggest leap with video is often having the courage to get in front of the camera and speak. Start by shooting the world around you or make a silent clip with music over it. Getting comfortable with your equipment is the first step to becoming a video master – so start shooting!

To earn income from YouTube, you actually do not need to be a partner. You just need Adsense.
