The Summer Scene: Why Your Blog Needs Video Content

To earn income from YouTube, you actually do not need to be a partner. You just need Adsense.

  2. Nnenna says:

My first video was silent (no talking, only music)- just me testing out the waters! I really want to try a proper vlog soon!

  3. This is so cool! Thanks for this post. I’m definitely going to try this app.

  4. Katie says:

I’m very excited about trying this. I’ve been really interested in starting doing this, but I only just started by blog last week and I feel like I need more posts and established content before I start vlogging. Do you all agree? What do you all think is a proper time on a blog to start introducing videos?

    • I would definitely wait before adding video content – more so that you have lots of non-video posts to supplement, because I personally don’t tend to watch videos on blogs, and if your blog only showcases video and one post from the get-go, youre cutting out the people who are accessing from work, from slow computers, from computers running slow internet etc etc.

I think its less about waiting a certain amount of TIME to create video content, and more just having lots of other non-video posts incase someone decides to scroll past it.

  5. Anna-Sara says:

Katie, video is a great way for your readers and fellow videofyme users to get to know you better! Suddenly you have followers you never knew you had, more views and more readers!! Take them behind the scenes of your life! :) Have fun!

  6. Very interesting thanks. I believe there’s even more that could be on there! keep it up

  7. Heather says:

Some people love looking at videos on blogs, or I guess they do because bloggers post them. Personally I jump right past. I like to read and look at images. I don’t have time for video.

    • Monica says:

That’s how I am too! Usually when I’m checking out a blog for the first time, loading a video and watching it is too long of a process to me and I’d rather just scan and check out the pictures. But I’m really considering posting a few on mine now after reading this…we’ll see!

  8. Monica says:

Question to the awesome bloggers on here who already post videos up :) Do you guys shoot from laptop webcams? Iphones? Actual video cameras? And what is the content of the video besides like, DIY or ootd vids? If you’re videotaping in public is it awkward?

  9. Amber says:

What if your camera sucks? What would a blogger do then? Video is cool but if the quality isn’t that great is it worth posting the video anyway? Just a thought.

  10. Glam Slam! says:

Great tips! Video is my next big challenge and something I’ve been wanting to try out. I definitely learned something new, got some great new inspiration and am ready to take this video challenge on! :)

  11. Alessandra says:

Hi, this is a great post but I’m wondering if you know how videofy me works in relation to music license? I know that YouTube will block your video (90% possibility) if you are using music without permission, so for example I wanted to d a video which was for charity anyway and from what I found they won’t allow it if I haven;t got permission from the producer. So then I contacted Sony Music Entertainment and of course they said they can’t allow me to use their song:/

  12. Sai says:

When I discovered how videos can increase my audience reach, I started making one. I even established my own YouTube channel ( I think everyone should try it too! :)

  13. Great suggestions, I’ll be incorporating video into my blog by the fall! Luckily my husband works in the film industry so he’ll be shooting all my video content. :)

  14. Anders says:

I started using VideofyMe to publish short videos of people who dress smart. Love how easy it is to add an intro and outro directly in the app.

  15. zoobia says:

I’ve been thinking of doing this! I’m going to have to brush up on my video production skills though; a steady hand and some good lighting work wonders!

  16. Andrea B says:

To those who are wondering about music, all is not lost if you don’t have a budget. You might not be able to use your favorite song from your favorite artist, but if you search for music covered by a Creative Commons license that allows a work to be modified (i.e. cut down for your video) with just an atribution, you can use that, from what I understand.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong? I’ve been experimenting with video/music and love because it has lists of music you can use for free (or almost free).

  17. ty azarov says:

    The blog feature at
has the ability to incorporate your lookbook blog with your youtube videos. It’s really an awesome feature of the website!

  18. Adelyn says:

Just posted my first video on my blog today! I can’t wait to read more in this series!

  19. Thanks for this post. I just posted my first video on my youtube channel. I had my fiance tape me in 5 second chunks and made the video out of a few of those chunks tied together. I got my music for free from Kevin MacLeod’s website. I hope these videos will encourage other women to add hats to their wardrobes.
I wanted my videos to feel dreamy and a little voyeuristic, like people watching at a cafe on a summer day.

I have also tried that. It must work,I believe.

I’ve been thinking about introducing video to Streets & Stripes some time soon. How long do you think is the right length for a video? I for one, hardly EVER watch videos on blogs. I just have too many to get through and videos slow that down.

  22. Eleanora says:

A blog that contains good content is sure to benefit even more by adding the option of a video. Why wouldn’t it as you get to satisfy those that opt to view video and those that prefer reading!

  23. Aliyah says:

  24. Mizanoor Rahman Nabil says:
