Once you get into blogging, there are certain things that become abundantly clear. For example, it’s way more work than you ever thought. Additionally, producing content is really only half the fun – promoting what you’re doing is just as important and beneficial to your growth.
As you start to create video content, make sure it doesn’t get lost. As you know if you’ve already started to produce it – there’s a lot of work that goes into the practicing, speaking, filming, re-filming, editing and more that’s needed to make a great video.
Give that video the attention it deserves and make sure it gets in front of the right audiences. By sharing and promoting your videos through social media as well as strategic placement on your site.
Here are our 4 best tips for sharing and promoting your mobile videos!
Facebook:
You can easily upload a video to your Facebook timeline, that’s old news. Take full advantage of its customizations though! You can schedule your post to go live at a certain time, pin your video to the top of the page and prioritize it to spread across both columns. Be sure to caption your video in the text box, and link out to any brands mentioned. With this kind of content you want to give your readers ample time to see it, like it, and share it – so it’s worthwhile to give it a place of prominence on your timeline even while you continue to add other updates and images.
There are many different applications you can add within Facebook that let you share, upload, edit and promote videos in a variety of ways.
Twitter:
It’s particularly easy to post video content to Twitter when you can upload it directly from an app. With VideofyMe, you can share your videos (and those of people you follow) directly to Twitter and write your own accompanying tweet. Be sure to use enticing, creative language to encourage interest and sharing from your followers! (You can also quickly email your newly published video to yourself or upload it directly onto your blog or Tumblr from your phone.)
Multiple Platforms:
Different platforms and social media channels have different audiences, so with video content you will want to spread yourself out and make sure you cover all your bases. Along with Twitter and Facebook, upload your video to both YouTube and Vimeo so their communities can view them as well. (One of these platforms may be ideal for posting on your blog as well).
On Your Blog:
Depending on the style of your blog, you may want to upload your video right to your blog from your phone, or download it to your computer and then create a whole post around it. Either way, make sure you tag that post so that readers can search and find all your videos. You may also want to consider creating a page or tab (or a sidebar widget) where all your video content lives on your blog. That way readers can easily find it, and you can promote your collection as a whole by grabbing the page’s URL and sharing it on Twitter, etc.
For examples of video content placement, check out the sidebar on DesignLoveFest, or The Blonde Salad’s video content page (found in her drop down menu under “categories.”)
Sharing and promoting your videos not only helps foster community and communication with you and your peers and readers, it can also be a core source of revenue earning from your video content! Remember – the more people viewing and clicking – the better!

Whether it’s a video or your blog, a large part of your viewer will find you through social media! I think sharing your vids on twitter, facebook or other platforms are, indeed, the best way to promote them!
