One of my favorite parts of the holiday months is that it’s prime time for all the best movies of the year. You have a perfectly good excuse to spend weekend nights in comfy clothes, in the dark depths of a movie theater, losing yourself in fantasy lives and fictional characters. If you’re anything like me, the experience is only sweetened with really, really good costuming. This upcoming season is stacked up to have some really great films with equally rewarding sartorial detailing, from a Russian period drama to a Tarantino western. Here are 5 stylish films we can’t wait to see over the holidays:
There’s honestly not much not to love about Kiera Knightly in a period piece – she was made for this, don’t you think? While the film has gotten mixed reviews (much of it is set on a stage) we’re sure the gowns, jewels and hair will be worth the $14 ticket price all on their own.
1940s Los Angeles. Ryan Gosling. Emma Stone. Suits, guns and gowns. Need we say more?
Okay confession – we already saw this one. Take it from the IFB team, it was as sleek and stylish as you could ever hope for James Bond to be. Fast-paced, globe-trotting action in impeccably tailored suits is all you need to know. Oh, and Javier Bardem as the most amazing villain we’ve seen in years.
With an all-star cast including Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlet Johannson as Janet Leigh, this film about the making of the cult classic horror film, Psycho – is sure to be as creepy as it is stylish.
“With the help of his mentor, a slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.” Take that little snippit, picture Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCapprio and the old south and we’re totally on board. Just think of all the hats.

I got to see Anna Karenina last September in London, and let me tell you… it was worth every penny. And not just for the fantastic work done by the costume and hair&makeup design teams. The performances, the cinematography… It was just such a beautiful and dramatic movie.
