plus size suits, lotis clothing, drop dead diva, plus size fashion, plus size style
From the symbolic meaning of their label's name to their designs, Lotis plus size clothing and Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva are a match made in heaven, pun definitely intended.
Katie Burke and Jessica Mealey of Lotis plus size clothing named their line after a Greek mythological nymph who escaped danger by morphing into a lotus tree, which has become a symbol of transformation, elegance and beauty. Jane Bingum of Lifetime's comedic drama Drop Dead Diva went through a transformation of her own. To make a long story short, Jane is a young, successful plus size lawyer who suffers a fatal gunshot wound at the same time that Deb Dobson, a thin model wannabe, has a fatal car accident. When Deb's soul goes to heaven she begs the angel to send her back but impatiently presses the wrong button and is instantly zipped back to earth in the plus size body of Jane. This soul mix-up transforms Jane into a fashion-savvy diva on top of already being an elegant, curvy beauty and a brilliant lawyer. If you didn't catch Drop Dead Diva last summer, watch it starting on June 6. You'll probably notice that there's something missing from it though. I'm not trying to lead the witnesses here, but wouldn't you love to see Jane rock some pieces from Lotis' plus size collection? Check out some of my recommended outfits for Jane from the Lotis Spring/Summer 2010 collection and then vote below!
Jane Cleverly Wins Another Case

From top: Lotis suit in black (also available in Grey); Christian Louboutin slingbacks; Valentino tote; Dana Faith necklace.
Jane Enjoys "Dreamy" Dinner Dates with Grayson
From top: Lotis wrap dress (also available in dusk, ocean and amaranth); Robert Lee Morris cuff, Rinkel equilateral bag, Michael Kors slingback.
Jane Is a Lady Who Brunches
From top: Lotis colorblock dress; Straw Studios wicker clutch; Lanvin Pearl Hoop Earrings.
Still not convinced? Then allow me to enter the following into evidence:
Exhibit A - Women Entrepreneurs Inspired by Us - Plus Size Women! In my interview with Lotis' founders, Katie and Jess stated that they launched their plus size clothing line because they '...were inspired by...women all over who are the size of the majority and who demand and deserve more options in their clothing.' Katie and Jess also worked very closely with the plus size customers of their Canadian boutique, Structure Wardrobe and Styling, to help them perfect their designs for the plus size body.
Exhibit B - Contemporary Pieces at an Affordable Price Point Would you pass up an opportunity to buy a quality, professional suit for $160? What about a dress versatile enough to be worn to work and to dinner for under $100? I definitely wouldn't!
Exhibit C - You Won't Only Look Good Wearing Lotis, You'll Feel Good! Lotis' fabrics are chosen not only for style, but also for incredible comfort. The rayon jersey is soft and breathable, the sweaters feel like cozy blankets and the suits have the silkiest of linings. When you spend most of your day in clothes, what else could you ask for?
Exhibit D - More Fab Pieces on the Horizon The upcoming Fall/Winter 2010 Lotis collection will include an amazing trench coat, luxurious holiday dresses, superb trousers and some must-have sweaters. I can't wait to have a sneak-peak! Okay, okay I'll skip the closing argument. LOL! But just in case you want to add to your spring work wardrobe, you can purchase pieces from the Spring/Summer 2010 Lotis collection starting in June on their website! Oh, and their Fall/Winter 2009 collection, featuring their best-selling, versatile shrug is still available for purchase now. (Did I mention that most of their pieces can be worn year-round?)
Now, give me your verdict and take the Fleurtle poll: "Wouldn't you love to see Jane on "Drop Dead Diva" rock plus size clothing by Lotis?"

The long-awaited Telephone video of Lady Gaga and Beyonce is out. There was a frenzy over the video, especially on Facebook where everyone gave their two-cents worth. Have you seen it?
My thoughts on the 'Telephone' video:
* At 9:32 minutes, it's VERY long.
* Gratuitous nudity and overtly sexual. That's her style, I suppose but makes me squirm a little.
* Her kookiness is getting predictable in a strange way.
* I love Pussywagon! Reminds me of Kill Bill!
* Beyonce's styling is horrible!
* The Polaroid product placement is too in-your-face.
What are your thoughts? Love it or hate it?
