If they're criticism I keep them, outright insults I delete - but the really offensive ones I write humorous replies to! My insult rebuttal posts are actually some of my highest ranking posts!

If it was someone disagreeing with my choices or opinions or tastes, then I would leave it. Sometimes it is good to have some debate or disagreement, sometimes it can even lead to learning new things or just allow for different points of views to come up, which is more than okay by me.

But you asked, about negative comments with insults... if someone left unnecessary mean comments or left plain old insults, i would probably just delete them right away. Who needs or wants to feel attacked on thier own blog. I would delete and try not to think twice about it.

Mean people are blasted on the main page and then deleted.  Critiques are kept.

I like the responses here!  I think that if I can make fun of you, I probably will and then I'll mark the rest of your comments as spam.  If you've got something good to say, I might keep it, but only if I believe you have a good point and that what you're saying is valid, logical and honest.

negative comments are fine if it's just a conflict of opinion but insults are a completely different matter.. Depends on how gravely insulting the comment, I might erase them or I might just laugh it off!

If it's really nasty, then it might seem out of place so I won't publish it. I'm afraid that it might turn another reader off. But if it's mildly negative, I'll publish it because it may entice another reader to respond or click through my website some more! But I won't get offended. Negative people are usually just insecure. And it's very cowardly act because most of the time, they would never say it to anyone's face. It's much easier to insult someone behind a computer screen - in the end, they just make me feel better about myself (lol).
