Win Free Magazines for a Year!

maghound1
(here I am indulging in trashy gossip magazines…woops!)

For the longest time, I considered myself a magazine junkie. And, I still enjoy reading magazines in the evening while the TV is playing in the background. It brings me back to a simpler time, and it's nice to just… read.. something I rarely do when I'm working on the internet and finding myself working on 5 things at the same time: answering emails, writing posts, twittering, reading blogs, looking at kittens. I guess doing two things is downright relaxing!

We all know that the print business is undergoing some changes… and this isn't going to be a post about that, because I can talk about it for ages. But I do know I still read magazines when to keep up on what the traditional media is doing, and because I find it enjoyable. What this post is about, is the publishers are keying into custom subscription services like Maghound where you can pay a monthly fee (plans start at $4.95/month for three magazines) and select which magazines you want. Unlike regular subscriptions, you can swap out whenever you want, like…. tired of Elle? Go for Nylon? Or Real Living? Cat Fancy?

I would subscribe to Nylon (except, I already have a subscription! will have to find a replacement in the event that I win…), Glamour, and marie claire.

I’m not sure if they count as fashion and style, but I would love to see Venus and Bust on there – two of my absolute faves! Oh, also Belle Armoire and ZINK!.

I hope I’m writing this in the right place!

    Anyway-

I’d sub to Elle (because it’s just… well, it’s Elle, isn’t it? And they don’t have Vogue, so Elle it is…), Seventeen (because I am – and because it’s nice not to get too bogged down in high-fashion that you can’t enjoy a cheesy teen mag now and again!), and Nylon (because I’d never heard of it until you mentioned it, and because I don’t think they have it in the UK, and because it just looks so damned awesome!)…

So, that’s Elle, Seventeen and Nylon. πŸ™‚

Elle (because, well, it’s Elle… and Vogue isn’t listed…), Seventeen (because I am, and besides, I get fed up of serious fashion all the time!), and Nylon (because I’ve never heard of it; I don’t think they even stock it in the UK, but it looks SO COOL).

And it would be awesome if they had Vogue, like I said (:

Ooh I love magazines! Like you I spend so much time in front of the computer that flipping through a glossy in front of the TV becomes a great form of relaxation. They’re also really fun on long plane rides.

My top 3 picks: Elle, Glamour, InStyle

Now for the ones I wish they had…

Being Chinese-Canadian, it’d be neat to see a bit more diversity represented in their magazine selection. Flare (from Canada) and Ceci (from China or Korea) are my top picks for mags I wished they carried.

Wow…I as a fellow magazine addict, I can’t believe I had not already heard of this site!!! Believe it or not, I would love having a subscription to any of the magazines listed, but if I had to choose only three: Elle Decor, New York Magazine, and People Style Watch (that was more tortuous than I thought!).

As for the magazines I would love to see added: Harper’s Bazaar, Architectural Digest, The New Yorker, Vogue…to name a few.

This has to be one of the best giveaways I have seen! I am also a magazine junkie and have my BS in journalism with a focus in magazine and fashion! I would love to receive Elle, Marie Claire, and InStyle.

It does bother me that they do not have Harper’s Bazaar or Vogue and they should definitely add those to their list!

I also follow you on Twitter (cocktailchic) & tweeted about the giveaway http://twitter.com/CocktailChic/status/3723572373

    Thanks for offering this giveaway!

What? This is awesome, I always consider magazines a luxury and so I pick one a month…Maghound might mean I can indulge a little more. πŸ™‚
I would want Elle, Nylon, and Marie Claire.
I would enjoy them adding Vogue (especially foreign ones…it’s hard to find affordable foreign mags in the US), and Harper’s Bazaar to their list.

NatGeo, consumer reports, and cooking light. And then I’d sub occaisionally for lighter stuff – elle, marie claire. What a cool idea!

Personally, I just go to Magatopia.com. There are thousands of magazine websites that have articles that are completely free to read, including many of the popular magazines mentioned above. Magatopia links to all of them, with no monthly fees. http://www.magatopia.com/
