Video: Getting into the business of blogging

Once I fell in love with blogging, the first question that came to mind was: “How can I do this for a living?”

Since blogging is such a new industry, this question only lead to more questions… What are brands looking for in bloggers? What is a good way to approach a potential sponsorship? Where is the industry heading? Whether you got into blogging for creative expression or from to sew some entrepreneurial oats, it's impossible to sustain yourself without having a good eye on business. This video helps give bloggers a place to start by highlighting key points from the Evolving Influence Conference Business of Blogging panel.

Great video, loved that they mentioned klout scores. I often see twitter users that have thousands of followers but there isn’t much interaction. I’d much rather keep a tight knit circle and be able to interact with a high percentage of my followers vs. just looking to reach a certain “magical” number.

Know your niche and stick to it – I think this is such an important message. As well as sticking to good content and providing your readers with info they can use. So many bloggers need to learn this valuable lesson…
