Flavors.me – A Tool for Bloggers to Utilize

by fuyume

One late night as I was cruising one of the crop of technology based sites I came across an article for newly formed ‘social networking’ site flavors.me. At first I wasn’t sure whether it would be advantageous for me as a fashion blogger but curiosity got the best of me so I set up an account for myself. Flavors.me is basically a landing page which puts all of your online presences in one place.

The service is easy to set up even for those of us without a knowledge of html or coding. You fill in a very simple sign up form, and you can add any of 15 online profiles including Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and your blogs RSS feed. Then you’re ready to start customizing the look of your site.

All of your content is transferred onto your Flavors.me page for easy access the templates are fairly simplistic and you can even purchase a custom url and upgrade for more style choices. If you click on one of the online profiles the content of that particular social network/blog will quickly come into view; it’s all very professional looking. Even with a free account you have the ability to pick a colour scheme, change the layout and add your own background image. For an example of what a page looks like see mine pictured above.

How is this advantageous for bloggers? Well within days of setting up my page I found that flavors.me was in my top ten referrers and it has stayed there in the weeks that have passed since.

Are any of you using flavors.me too? How has it effected your blog traffic?

I’ve hestitated signing up for anything like this since I feel like I already have a lot of pages to manage with my blog, Facebook and Twitter, but that is interesting to hear that it’s referring a lot of traffic to you. There is also about.me which sounds similar to flavors.me

I known about flavors.me for sometime now. I think that it’s a great to use on business cards that way you never have to change information on your cards. All your info is in one online.

Thanks for the reminder! I ended up getting an invite to join flavorsme when it was still in beta testing, but I didn’t work hard at exploring my account. I set my page up and basically never touched it.

It’s come a long way since then, and thanks to this post, I’ve been reminded to update my own page!

well…I have a question…I set up the account and now what?
Why provide to my facebook friends the url of my flavors.me when they can “like” my page? (or visit my blog directly as I post my links on my profile too)
How will someone “see” my flavors.me page??

i’ve used flavors.me for quite a while now in that i have a lot of blogs & i like it in terms of organizing them into one place…like a website for all my blogs, twitters, FB, etc 🙂 i will admit, it’s not very robust & is glitchy. why even now, it shows my last post as dated 3.02.11…not very helpful. then again, i never thought about using it in terms of driving traffic to my sites, so it doesn’t bother me that much. thanks for this post though! it reminded me i should look at & tweak it more ^_^

i’ve been using flavours for a while now, but i don’t think it’s made any different in my blog referrals. but i definitely like it. i do it more for me than anything else, but it’s definitely convenient as a landing page for everything that i do around the web.

I just set up this feature yesterday and let’s see what it will do to my blog traffic, however I feel like it is a great way to set up a simple portfolio base online. It is easy to set up and very simple to use. Hopefully it will increase blog traffic as well. 🙂

    Kind regards,
    Paula

Flavors is really good, but let me recommend About.me. It is kind of similar but it looks more polish and the design is way better than Flavors :]

Interesting concept. I’m in the early stages of planning my on-line portfolio but this could be the answer to some design issues I’m running into AND a free alternative. It’s worth a shot to see if the platform can deliver the results I’m going for. A simple nest for all of my web presence(s)? We shall see!

I’ve come across this site before but I haven’t used it. I made a Flavors.me account because of this article. So far it hasn’t made a big difference for me, but we’ll see! I think my top referring sites are still Twitter and StumbleUpon…

I’ve come across flavors.me a few times but I have always considered it as something for businesses, never for my own blog. I think I’m going to give it a shot, if it has helped you, it could help me too. We’ll see how it goes, thanks!
