This week's Professional Blogger Spotlight is on UK-based fashion blogger Charlie May, a fashion designer with a stellar blog-on-the-side: Girl a la Mode.
Tell us a little bit about Girl a la Mode?
I started the blog when I was in my second year of university studying Fashion Design. It stems from a love of good design, high fashion and personal style.
How do you monotize Girl a la Mode?
Really it's the best place to advertise myself and my business. I won't put any ads up unless I feel like they are truly relevant, but anything from banners to sponsored posts can help me pay the rent.
How has blogging affected your career?
If it wasn't for blogging I wouldn't have been able to launch my own fashion label. I just completed my first collection for SS12 and it couldn't have been possible without the knowledge i've learnt since starting a blog and the people I've met along the way.
What are you working on now?
In the aftermath of fashion week I'm working on a few personal orders, sending out lookbooks, meetings etc. I'm preparing to start on my Autumn/Winter collection at the end of next month!
What is the most important advice you would give to aspiring bloggers?
Stay true to yourself and be original. Blog about what you find inspiring as it's a place for you first and foremost.
