Don’t Worry, We Do It Too…

Are you perfect? Is your blog immaculate, mistake-free, and scheduled down to the minute? If so, hats off to you!

At IFB we encourage our community and ourselves to be the best bloggers we know how, because we love what we do and we want to be successful at it. We work hard, we keep up with our posts, we're animals on social media and we dress really well. It's our thing, right? Well just like any job (and blogging really can be or feel like a job), you're bound to slip up every now and again.

I'm not here to advocate laziness. If you really want to be a player in this field, you've gotta be on your game – all the time. Well, most of the time. The reality though, is that no one is perfect, so you're going to flub up sometimes. Blame it on laziness, blame it on Netflix streaming all four seasons of Gossip Girl, blame it on burn out. We have all been there!

Here are some of the little things we let slide every now and then, and if you do it too, shhhhh we won't tell!

It's totally alright if you…

  • Start a post with every intention of finishing it, and never actually get around to it
  • Buy something over the weekend just because you know it would look great in an outfit post
  • Post something every now-and-then just because you feel like it, whether or not it has anything to do with what your blog is mostly about
  • Go on vacation and “forget” to schedule guest bloggers and just let people wonder what on Earth might have happened to you for a week
  • Make a spelling error and not even know until your dad emails you to correct you're to your
  • Wear sunglasses in most of your posts because you hate how your eyes look in photographs without eye-liner
  • View blogging like homework, and procrastinate accordingly
  • Shut down Twitter for a few days just to remind yourself that the world keeps turning even if you're not getting the second-by-second play-by-play
  • Do multiple outfit post shoots in one day then post them sporadically over the next few weeks as if they were totally different days
  • Take a day… or two… or three off from blogging, tweeting, and Facebooking – just because

Embarrassing or not – do you ever commit these little sins of neglect? Share them with us, we promise not to judge!

Um, I’ve been TOTALLY thinking about doing this, just because it makes it so much easier to go, “What did I wear last week…” and do it all at once.

Are you peeking through the drafts on my site right now? Get out of there, lady! 😉

Guilty as charged but if ones blog is treated as a job then certainly we all need a vacation from work every now and then!

I’m guilty of commiting a few of these. There are days when I’m really uninspired and I just can’t throw something together. If my heart isn’t in it, then I will not post. My followers deserve better than something thrown together just for the hell of it. Good to know I’m not the only one going through this.

Literally LOL’d at every one of these – I’m guilty on almost all accounts… Except the last one!

Maybe I should break up with the Internet for a day or two, just to test strength of our relationship. Or to get two full nights of sleep in a row. #bloggerproblems

LOL! I’m guilty of doing most of these. But I like these the most:

    – Wear sunglasses in most of your posts because you hate how your eyes look in photographs without eye-liner
    – Do multiple outfit post shoots in one day then post them sporadically over the next few weeks as if they were totally different days

I relate to these because I’m a wife and mom who works full-time. There are days where I just look tired, so I wear the sunnies. And on the days that I come home late from work, but remember my outfit, I’ll do 2 or 3 outfit pictures on a Saturday when my son is asleep and my husband is golfing. That way I can take time to make myself up and get the shots that I want.

Trust me, you do what you can when you need to do it. Great post!

    xoxo

i am really bad with using twitter. I usually actively tweet on Thursdays when Project Runway is on….I dont post my personal outfits on my blog so sometimes….I just dont get dressed to a T and I have a few drafts that I know will not get published anytime soon..lol

I am totally guilty about taking 3-4 outfit shots in one day and then posting them over the next few days. Granted, I mostly do it when I’m planning outfits for vacation and then I schedule them to post while I’m away. It is kind of helpful when you’re trying out something new on vacation … like a test run.

Considering I didn’t start up this particular blog until a week ago I’m on my game for now, but I already have so many ideas for posts and I started writing a bunch at once so I’ll probably omit a few of them… which actually means get lazy and never finish them.

These are all so true. Sometimes it’s just a little hard to balance your life plus blogging. Props to all those of you working full time jobs aaand blogging on the regular. It’s not east but we do it because we love it!

I have considered doing the multiple outfits in one day, but I never get around to it… But I do very happily take ‘Internet vacations’ where I don’t Facebook, tweet, blog, or even use the Internet at all. My computer gathers dust, sometimes for as long as a week. Definitely keeps my sanity and prevents burn-out.

Gosh, it’s silly how much guilt I feel after skipping a day or two on my blog. Thanks for the “it’s okay” list 🙂 It’s good to know I’m not the only one lacking perfect blogging skills!

Thank you for this check list. It is always reassuring to know that other bloggers have the same thoughts and insecurities. JoJo Styling

I just took an “extra” day off the computer (might have sneaked in a few tweets from my ipod) because I just didn’t wanna do it. I always feel bad when I take a day off but I force myself to do it because I think I come back with a fresher attitude.

i found this article pretty entertaining 🙂 and something that a lot of bloggers can relate to. i actually think doing the “shoot multiple outfit posts in one day” thing is smart! in case you don’t have time to shoot an outfit one day, you can post one of the outfit photos you have on hand 🙂

I totally commit the last one the most often. I can go without blogging for a week or so. But when I’m in the mood, I go really crazy just writing and writing and writing.

Thank you for this! I don’t feel so bad, now. I’ve made these mistakes and I’ve done these things! Hahahaha… My favs are– “the sunglasses w/o outliner” and the “posting same day outfits”. Ha ha ha.. I’m not alone!
