Sponsored content done well is a great way to monetize your blog. It serves your readers with relevant information (remember the “done well” part?) and the brands with a new audience, and it also helps you pay the bills. On the other hand, one of the tough parts about sponsored content is negotiating the price, and the package, and getting paid. I know this from spending a lot of time chasing up overdue invoices. It' not fun.
Back in February, I wrote about Passionfruit Ads [Disclaimer: Passionfruit has since become a regular advertiser on IFB] as tool to use to sell your ads. I've been using it here on IFB since, and it's changed my attitude towards banner ads. It's really improved the process of selling ads, therefore providing a steady income stream.
Automate the sales of Sponsored Posts, Social Media, and Blog Services
Passionfruit has added features where you can sell sponsored posts, social media services, blog services, and all through your blog shop. The feature was introduced a few weeks ago, and bloggers are already selling services as a result of making them available in the blog ad shop.
…for bloggers whose content is more product focused, ie. trend reports, outfit posts, fashion news etc., this could turn out to be a handy tool…
I haven't personally added these options to IFB, because I'm a bit finicky with the types of sponsored posts and social media partnerships (because I limit the number per month, and go through an interview process to determine if it's a good fit), but for bloggers whose content is more product focused, ie. trend reports, outfit posts, fashion news etc., this could turn out to be a handy tool to cut out the back and forth in the negotiation for sponsored posts as well as ads.
Sell all the ads you want for $50/year
As part of the relaunch, they're putting on a special where you can pay for the service for $50 per year (not including Paypal/Visa fees) if you join by September 1st, or $9 per month as opposed to taking a cut from each sale. Founder, Jason Lynes said about the change, “I decided that unlimited service for a fair monthly rate was a pricing change that was super easy to understand, easy to upgrade, and easier for the many ways my customers use the service.”
I have personally paid the annual fee for IFB as it is cheaper than the old fee structure for this blog. Since it starts in September, it'll be interesting to see the impact on the bottom line!
You can form your own mini-ad network
If $9 per month is too much for you, and you have good blog friends, why not create your own ad network together? Here you can find a step-by-step instructions on how to pool your traffic together to sell better ads.
