Hong's aesthetic comes through loud and clear in the all-black-and-white pieces, including a black one-piece with a plunging zipper and white collar, a cropped tee that reads, simply, “HAUTE,” and a white, mesh-back, high-collar swim top.
The blogger's love of Richards' “edgier and stronger” take on swimwear dates back to 2013 when Hong first took note of the designer's fall/winter 2013 lookbook and began snapping up and wearing her pieces both at the beach and on the street—which speaks to the versatility of the pieces. Soon after she met the Canadian designer in Vancouver, and was blown away. She wrote back then:
I can honestly say that chick is the Shit. Like for real.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Hong wrote on her blog yesterday:
Over the years, Beth’s suits have become one of the main swim/active-wear staples in my closet. All of these pieces are based off cuts that have become signatures of my style: crop tops, high necks, & mesh.
Prices range from $110 for the “barely bottom” to $265 for the one-piece. Shop the entire collection here.
What do you think? DoesThe Haute Pursuit x Beth Richards collab work? Will you buy a piece?
