This week's New Member Spotlight proves that our members really do come from incredibly diverse backgrounds. Morgan Schadegg, who not long ago launched her blog Between the Racks, is a chemical engineer at a nuclear power plant. She earned her degree at Arizona State in 2013, and now lives in a small town in Texas.
Morgan may hail from a small town, but she's got city-worthy style. She's a master at mixing high and low—pieces from Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Valentino play nicely with Goodwill and Forever 21 finds. And just a few months ago, she traveled to Paris for a dreamy wedding to her aerospace engineer husband, of whom she says “I can be my nerdy self with.” In addition to fashion and science, Morgan loves to eat and spend time with her adorable cat, Coco. Check out our interview with Morgan below!
1. How long have you been blogging?
“I have been wanting to start a blog for a while, but never had the time to create it. I started doing a few posts early this year, but finally launched my blog in July, 2015, so I'm very new at this!”
2. How did you hear about IFB?
“I heard about IFB from a blogger friend, Jessica (of My Cubicle Chic)!”
3. Why did you decide to join?
“As I am just starting out, I am looking for any chance to learn more about blogging from people with experience, as well as make connections and discover new blogs.”
4. How would you describe your style?
“I would say my style is classic, but with a bit of an edge.”
5. Do you blog full time or do you have a day job?
“I have a full time job as an engineer at a nuclear power plant.”
6. How do you manage to fit blogging into your schedule?
“My blog is my hobby, so I make time for it when I can. I take my photos on the weekends (my husband is great at photographing me), as that is when we go places where I can look a little nicer, and I try to post about two times a week right now.”
7. What makes your blog stand out from all the others?
“I am the gal who wears the designer clothes on a Forever 21 budget. I have a passion for finding quality items at a great discount, and mixing high and low brands.”
8. Are you monetizing your blog? What do you find works best for you?
“I have been using Shopstyle Collective at the moment, but since I buy mainly secondhand items, linking clothing doesn't seem to work as well for me.”
