This week's blogger profile features Tara Michelle Brose, who just started her eponymous blog this spring. She summed up her (dreamy-sounding!) life so well that we're going to let her speak for herself. Check out our interview with her below!
“I grew up in a small town in South Carolina, and moved to NYC after high school to pursue a modeling career. I signed with MSA Models, and have done a lot of print work, showroom, film, etc. I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and studied fashion merchandising with a specialization in product development. Upon graduation, I started working as a fit model, which became more of a full time job.
Now I am 25 years old, I have gotten married to my best friend and the man of my dreams, and we live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My husband is a designer and musician, and we volunteer together on the creative team at our church, Hillsong NYC. We both love to travel and take any opportunity for a vacation!
After a year of being married with lots of traveling, and booking a lot of new work in the fashion industry, I was inspired to start my blog. I get so many questions about how we travel so frequently, my job and what it consists of, and my style. I thought the blog would be a perfect place to share all of these things and inspire others to live the life that they want to have! I want everyone to know that the life they want to live is attainable if you set your mind to it. You’d be surprise at how much you can accomplish with minimal resources and much determination!”
1. How long have you been blogging?
“I just started my blog in May of this year.”
2. How did you hear about IFB?
“My sister told me about it! She has a health + beauty YouTube channel (Shannon Sullivan: Your Balanced Lifestyle), and told me about it when I was looking for a fashion community online.”
3. Why did you decide to join?
“After looking at the website for a bit, I knew that it was something that I wanted to be a part of! The articles are super helpful and informative, and it is also a great way to be in touch with other fashion bloggers.”
4. How would you describe your style?
“I would say that my style is a mixture between bohemian casual and city chic. I like wearing casual clothing, but tend to dress them up with accessories that have an edge. For example, I would wear a Free People dress with my Converses, or a pair of Carmar boyfriend jeans with my favorite All Saints black leather jacket.”
5. Do you blog full time or do you have a day job?
“I have a day job as well. I work as a model for MSA Models. I do primarily fit modeling, and fit for several companies such as Opening Ceremony, Steven Alan, Almost Famous, Vanilla Star, Onia, and Swiss Army.”
6. How do you manage to fit blogging into your schedule?
“My schedule is extremely full, but it is full of many things that I love doing! I feel like no matter how full my schedule is, as long as I am passionate about what I am doing, I somehow find a way to fit it all in. When I started blogging, I knew it would be extremely time consuming, but it is something that I absolutely love. I try to prepare posts ahead of time on the weekends or late at night after work, and then post them throughout the week. So far, that has been working well for me. It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!”
7. What makes your blog stand out from all the others?
“My blog’s main purpose is to inspire others to live their life to the fullest. It may sound cliché, but that is what I really hope to do. My blog is somewhat of a combination of fashion + lifestyle + travel. I do a ‘Friendspiration Friday’ post every Friday to put the focus on someone else in my world who inspires me in some way.”
8. Are you monetizing your blog? What do you find works best for you?
“I have just started trying to figure this out…ha! So far, I have signed up for ShopStyle, Reward Style, and as an Amazon affiliate. We will see how it goes! I am just getting these things going.”
