The Answers

Question 1: Are your followers mostly desktop or mobile users?

Both groups are candidates for Pinterest marketing, but if you said mobile users, your followers are more likely to be visual; to scan rather than read; to want instant, eye-catching information; and share information, if they find it useful. All of these aspects make Pinterest a very mobile user-friendly app.

Question 2: What social networks are most popular among your followers?

If your followers regularly use Facebook, which focuses highly on sharing, chances are that Pinterest marketing will be ideal for them—which is ideal for you, since you can easily find out which of your Facebook followers are on Pinterest when you sign up and/or import contacts.

Question 3: What kind of content do your followers usually share on social media?

A preference for photographs, cartoons, text-based graphics, and quotes indicates that your audience is comprised of visual learners. Pinterest compatibility: 4/4.

You have a preference for YouTube videos, quotes, animal links/photos, humanitarian causes, and current news indicates that your followers are caring, emotional, and intuitive. Pinterest compatibility: 3/4.

A preference for political posts, data and facts, current news, and social causes shows your followers prefer fact-based posts. They're looking for information, and they don't care how it's presented, as long as it grabs them. This time, it's all about how you run the show. Pinterest compatibility: 2/4.

Question 4: Do you share infographics on your blog and social media?

If you answered yes and your followers love those posts, don't wait any longer. Sign up for Pinterest and come up with a strong marketing plan immediately!

If you don't, ask yourself why. Too busy? Take a few moments to re-think and figure out a way to adjust your schedule. If you lack graphic design skills, consider outsourcing or repinning infographics. If you don't have any ideas… I know you're more creative than that! Get inspired by looking through the Pinterest tag and trying to get something down on paper.

Question 5: Which method of communication do your followers respond to most? (Examples: text, video, photo, infographic, etc).

Since you're a fashion blogger, I imagine that your audience responds most strongly to a combination of photo, video, and graphics. Meet your new best platform! Pinterest compatibility: 4/4.

If your posts are more text-heavy, though, ask yourself why. Photos have been proven to increase engagement, and that's what you want from followers: interactivity and emotional engagement. Pinterest compatibility: 2/4.

Question 6: Do you have strong graphical skill?

The one advantage that graphical skill gives you is the ability to enhance photos by manipulating them: altering tonal values, adding text, using light filters, etc. But the fact remains: even if you can't draw a straight line, you can effectively use Pinterest, as long as you know how to snap a photo and upload it.

Question 7: Do you routinely use digital photography in everyday life?

If you do, you have no excuse!

Question 8: Does your blog have a strong human interest component (specialized community, personality, or coaching/mentoring)?

If you answered yes, you'll find Pinterest ideal for marketing to emotions. Use photographs that are more than the sum of their parts. Crop them closely to a single point of focus to gain maximum emotional impact. Consider what your photos impart that aren't strictly literal: instead of just the clothes you're wearing or your eyebrow game, what feelings are you giving off through the ambiance and atmosphere?

Question 9: Does your blog involve teaching in any form?

If you said yes, you can use your boards to not only engage visual learners, but to involve students through Secret Boards (by, for example, having them post their homework).

Question 10: How often do you use or check your social networks?

Any social network needs to be maintained regularly to be used effectively. If you never or sporadically check your social media, considering hiring a manager to expand your reach. Otherwise, pass.

Humans are graphical. I think whatever is your niche, one can always find a way to convert text to graphics.

Gaining followers and building marketing base on Pinterest is no less than a headache. I tried a number of tools to manage my three accounts but was very disappointed until I discovered PinPinterest com. The best thing about this tool was that via the multiple account management option, I was able to handle all my accounts in a single PinPinterest account. Moreover, this is very easy to set up and hardly took me five minutes. Apart from this, my other favorite feature is sophisticated artificial intelligence, which screened the content and pinned only the relevant items on my boards.
