Changes for Links à la Mode
Hello loves!
Well, since the beginning of the year, we had a great response and participation to Links à la Mode. It’s one of the best parts of IFB. It’s all of you who make it such a great part of the community.
Because of the amount of people who want to participate and the number of links that we can include in a post without it becoming overwhelmingly long we’ve had to find some way to limit the number of links published.
At first we tried first come first serve, but this is crazy for two reasons.
1. it fills up in 20 minutes, so if you are late, you miss out
2. it’s unfair to those in other parts of the world
3. it makes it difficult for me as I myself, am not always available at exactly at 2pm GMT
I personally cannot continue this method.
Initially I thought an editorial selection might work, but I was afraid of determining who had the ‘best’ content. I personally didn’t want to make the selection because I didn’t want IFB to be about my own personal tastes, so I have decided to recruit a team of bloggers to act as editors. Since the editors are rotating, Links à la Mode will be made in a more egalitarian fashion, giving a broader scope to the kinds of posts made by our members!
Here are some of the benefits of the editorial selection:
1. You have time to submit your post
2. The quality of Links à la Mode will improve overall
3. This will give other bloggers a chance to submit their posts
4. Encourage all of us to produce better content
I have selected the editors based on their participation in the community and their level of commitment, and the time they can commit… The editors will be announced shortly, as I’m still sorting out the details.
From now on…
The Links à la Mode thread will be posted at the regular time. The only difference being, you must have your links posted in the thread by TUESDAY. As the editors will be making their selections on Wednesday, you don’t want to miss out.
Each Wednesday, the editors will chose the top 20 links, they get to include a link to their blog as a benefit to the time they spent working on the roundup, and there will of course be one link from IFB.
I will do the final approval, and publish the complete Links à la Mode roundup on Thursday as always.

This sounds like a good solution, its crazy how fast the slots fill up!
Hopefully it will give others an opportunity to take part and it will be interesting to see how the content varies each week depending on who is editing.
Terrific solution, as I’m never making it on time
This is a great idea. I think this will be the best for everyone involved in the long run. Is this effective today?

I think this is a GREAT solution personally…I haven’t even been submitting links because I knew I wouldn’t be among the first 20.
