Top 29 Swimsuits in 2020

1. SUUKSESS Tie-Dye Two Piece High Waist Swimsuit

Material: Smooth and stretchy fabric
Type: Two-piece
Design point: High-waisted

This is hands down one of the most flattering swimsuits on the list. Size-wise it is very comfortable and fits nicely, without revealing too much but still revealing enough to make for a bomb-looking swimwear. The top is secure and doesn’t allow for any slip outs. Tie-dye is also extremely in and one of the hottest trends this season, so you can use this as an excuse to raise the heat at the beach a little bit more with this two piece. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that SUKSESS is one of the good swimsuit brands that don’t cost a fortune to get my hands on.

2. CUPSHE Tie-Dye Two Piece Bikini Swimsuit

Material: Chinlon
Type: Two-piece
Design point: Lace up at back

A perfect swimsuit choice for small ladies. CUPSHE might not be one of the most popular swimsuit brands, but I suspect that’s going to change, and soon. A perfect fit-to-your body design with an adjustable back, this model feels stable and supportive, without being too revealing. The bottom can be found a bit cheeky, so be cautious if you aren’t a fan of that. I found the top to be nicely cropped, which is sure to give you a nice sunkissed chest by the end of summer. This model is also available in one of the hottest swimsuit trends of 2020 — tie-dye.

3. Montce Ruffled Polka Dots Two Piece

Material: Nylon/Spandex blend
Type: Two-piece
Design point: Triangle Top and Uno Bottom

Now for a little something something for the lovers of feeling like a million bucks. Your swimsuit doesn’t have to be from any luxury swimwear brands in order to look expensive — but having one from Montce is noticeable from afar. From the high-quality fabric, through the cheeky design with forever-trendy polka dots, all the way to the classy uno bottoms — this is one swimsuit that all successful swimwear bloggers should have in their closets.

4. Solid & Striped Belted One Piece

Material: 94% polyamide and 6% elastane
Type: One piece
Design point: Has a belt!

I didn’t know I needed a swimsuit with a belt before I came across this one. While it’s not one of the most revealing swimsuits, the pretty coral color has some charm to it, and adjustable straps make it comfortable to wear. To me, it looks like it’s popped out of the 20’s, which makes it utterly adorable. While many people aren’t particularly fond of one-pieces, I find them perfect when you want to cover up the fact that you failed to get into your beach body this year. Oh well — you still get to look cute, so who is the real winner here?

5. Hunza G Green Lime Two Piece

Material: Signature crinkle-stretch fabric
Type: Two-piece
Design point: Has a lycra tie to add shape to the top

You can’t go wrong with a Hunza G. Believe me, I tried — and even my non-existent beach body looked dazzling in this gorgeous lime green color. A definite winner in the high end swimwear category, this emerald gem provides great support and comfort for any ocean baby who wants to do some exploring over the hot summer months. And a cheeky feature — you can easily pull your bottoms up a bit more if you want to flash some booty on the beach.

6. Tempt Me One Piece Mesh

Material: Smooth fabric material
Type: One piece
Design point: Mesh patchwork bust area

Everyone, step aside! The best v-plunge one piece of 2020 is walking by! If you ever asked yourself the question “Should I wear a one piece swimsuit?”, I hope you got your answer right here. This one is gorgeous, feminine and has a seductive mesh in the bust area that tingles the imagination. It is certainly the best swimwear for daring girls who want to try out something new and shake up their style a little bit.

7. CUPSHE One-Piece Cute Swimsuit

Material: 95% polyester fiber, 5% spandex
Type: One-piece
Design point: One shoulder and color block

Having an apple-shaped body isn’t always easy in terms of finding a nice, flattering, cute swimsuit. It always feels like your choices are limited to one or two pieces. Fortunately, this one is an exception to the rule. Color blocking works well with this figure type (especially with darker bikini bottoms — this model comes in green as well) and the one-piece is perfect for hiding tummy imperfections. Overall this is one nice women's bathing suit for all the apple chicas out there who want to look cute at the beach.

8. Mollusk Men Swim Trunks

Material: 100% Nylon
Type: Trunks
Design point: Stripe print

This male swimwear is absolutely G O R G E O U S. Yes, I did just call a piece of male clothing gorgeous, because, well, it is. The classy and simple pattern, the luxurious feel that the solid fabric gives (no itchiness!), the small pouch pocket at the back — like I expected anything less from Mollusk. I am no swim trunk expert, but I am fairly certain that if I were a man, these would be the best mens swim trunks for 2020 that I could buy on Amazon. Gentlemen, would you agree?

9. Kanu Surf Men’s Swim Trunks

Material: 100% Polyester
Type: Trunks
Design point: Versatile color options

How does one choose the best men’s swimwear? Do things like quick-dry fabric and a UPF rating of 50+ matter? Or are hidden pouches for keys and cards of greater importance? Or do they all play their part in the decision making process? If the answer to all of these questions is yes, then we have a clear winner. Kanu Surf are a swim wear manufacturer that knows the rules of the game perfectly — and feature one of the fastest drying trunks I have ever seen.

10. SilkWorld Men Quick Dry Trunk/Shorts

Sale
Material: 100% Polyester
Type: Trunks
Design point: Versatile color options

Is there anyone that understands mens swim trunks better than SilkWorld? Maybe. But are they on Amazon? Maybe not. And I can personally testify that even if they are, they are as far from the Amazon best sellers as possible, which is not the case for these manly swim trunks. My favorite thing about these are the funky patterns they come in — the one I got for my boyfriend was the banana peels one and he loves it! Often premium swimwear is boring and plain, but I was delighted to discover that yes, it is possible to have quality and keep it fun.

11. Taddlee Men Floral Shorts

Material: Soft fabric
Type: Trunks
Design point: Above the knee, good cut

Who said that the best men’s swimsuits can’t be floral? If any gentleman reading this has any doubts regarding his masculinity — rest assured that as a woman I can tell you that these trunks look H O T. Furthermore, they hit the golden area of neither being too tight like Speedos or too loose like most swimming trunks out there. Well, at least my boyfriend says so — according to him this is an item of clothing that is absolutely essential for his wardrobe during the summer. Especially when we are at the beach. And speaking of beach essentials, sunglasses are another MUST to keep your eyes protected from the hot summer sun.

12. Big Bust One Piece Women Swimwear

Material: 82% Polyamid +18% Spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Ruffled waistband

Something big-chested ladies struggle with — finding fitting swimsuits online. They always seem to be a bit off in the bust, but as a large-chested gal myself, I can assure you that this one is a total winner. I absolutely love the design, it’s very slick and stylish, and gives out expensive vibes, despite being one of the more cheap swimsuits on this list. I was extremely worried for this summer as I didn’t manage to get into my beach body in time but wearing this I have forgotten all my woes already. Removable padding for firm support, asymmetrical neckline with adjustable fit, two ways to wear one suit… It is hands down one of the best slimming swimsuits I have ever put on my body.

13. CUPSHE Halter One piece women

Material: 80% chinlon, 20% spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Shirring Stripe Halter design

Ding-ding-ding! No, this isn’t a boxing match bell, it’s a bell that announces the winner of my long search for the best swimsuits for large bust. Why swimsuits? Because during my research I found out that all the models by CUPSHE fit this description like a glove. Extremely comfortable, flattering and sexy, anyone with a larger bust will agree this is also the best swimsuit brand for long torsos. This, combined with the rave reviews from users, sold me on this one completely.

14. Big Bust One Piece Women

Material: 80% Chinlon, 20% Spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: V neck, Halter design, Shirring at front

Nothing screams sexy more than a v-plunge swimsuit. Top it off with a pretty orange color (or yellow, or blue, or any of the 7 available) and you will be turning heads on your summer getaway. One pieces are swimsuits that never go out of style, but every year we see the different angles designers decide to go with them. This one is fairly plain and clean — perfect if you are like me and don’t like unnecessary dangling things.

15. Uplifting Big Bust Two Piece Women

Sale
Material: Stretchy and soft material
Type: Two piece
Design point: High-waisted bikini

Finally — a women’s swimsuit for busty girls, where you don’t have to worry about your boobs casually spilling out. It’s time you tamed your girls the right way, and treating them to this amazing swimwear is that way. Swimsuits for big busts are notoriously hard to find and even if you do find them, in most cases they are definitely not eye catching. As well as providing extra support for your ladies, this one also comes with a high-waisted bottom that compliments your body even more.

16. Maternity Swimsuit Stripes

Sale
Material: 82% nylon and 18% spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Adjustable Tie at one side

You are expecting and want to go to the beach while still looking flawless? Is this possible? Well, this swimsuit makes it possible — it is one of the best maternity swimsuits I have reviewed and the only one that made its way on this list. It has all the room you need for your growing tummy and comes in a wide range of cool prints. Its soft delicate fabrics are stretchy and comfortable, which is bound to appeal to both yourself and your baby bump.

17. Plus Size Women two piece

Material: Soft and comfortable
Type: Two piece
Design point: Retro High Waisted

Let me tell you, while writing this article I got to review a lot of cute swimsuits, but none of them comes close to this one. I love the pin-up culture, so the polka dots really did it for me — and as it also turned out, they are a top trend for 2020. What a win, am I right? This particular dotted swimming gown is also one of the best plus size swimsuits I came across during my research. It makes curvy ladies irresistible and raises the temperature around them by at least 10 more degrees. What’s more, this is one of very affordable swimsuits on my list.

18. Sovoyontee Plus Size Two Piece

Material: Nylon/Spandex
Type: Two piece
Design point: Full coverage bikini bottom with a high waist ruched design to cover belly well

Here comes a swimwear women with curves can appreciate greatly. Featuring plenty of vibrant colors, Sovoyontee have outdone themselves with the design of this swimsuit. The bottoms are extremely flattering and hide all imperfections, while putting the accent on other body parts, enhancing your diva image. Who said that small brands can’t have good swimwear designers? Cast aside your doubts and have confidence in this swimsuit — you’ll be glad you did!

19. Animal Print Calvin Klein one piece women

Material: 85% Nylon, 15% Spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Tie back

No swimwear list is complete without mentioning Calvin Klein at least once. This model is one of the best one piece swimsuits I got to review and let me tell you it’s one of the few I’ll bring to my vacation this year. I am not a seasoned swimsuit model but I know quality when I see it — and the name Calvin Klein speaks for itself. This is one of the few models that fit me like a glove, and the pattern looks stunning from any angle. Animal print is also extremely trendy this season, so what more do you need? 10/10 would recommend it to all of my friends (that includes you too!).

20. Kenneth Cole one piece nice green color

Material: 78% Nylon, 22% Other Fibers
Type: One piece
Design point: Deep V-neck

This is the most modest swimwear on Amazon that I laid my eyes on — but don’t be fooled, this doesn’t take away from its style. If you (like me) have a thing for clean, nice swimsuits, you might be intrigued by this one. Kenneth Cole has done a fantastic job with the design, which enhances natural curves and makes you shine, be it swimming or sunbathing. Overall, this swimsuit shows that you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for function; it is possible to have both.

21. Animal Print Two piece swimwear

Material: Soft and stretchy material
Type: Two piece
Design point: Strap ruffles and high-waisted tummy control bottoms

Rawr! Wait, when did we end up in Africa? Excuse me, it’s easy to lose my grip on reality when I lay eyes on this gorgeous two-piece swimming attire. It is one of the best swimsuits for small chests I have reviewed on here and the pattern combinations are to die for. Animal print is extremely “in” this season, so if you like to follow the trends, don’t hesitate and jump right in. One of the more affordable swimsuit brands, imesrun gives you no excuse not to! But there's more! You can easily combine this swimsuit with the groovy LuxSweet Women Face Mask with animal patterns to feel like a real tigress!

22. Long Sleeve Luxury Swimsuit

Material: 82% Nylon & 18% Elastane
Type: One piece
Design point: Long sleeves

Jumping into pricey swimsuits territory, I wouldn’t mind paying WHATEVER to get my hands on this one. I was sceptical at the long-sleeve trend at first (doesn’t it get hot and uncomfortable after a while?) but this one burst any doubts I was having about it. The pattern it comes with is gorgeous and it stands among my favourite designer bathing suits of 2020. Some quick trivia — long sleeves are not only a hot swimsuits trend this season but also offer great sun protection. And while it isn’t suited for sun-orientated activities, it is the perfect outfit to wear at the nearest beach bar.

23. Two piece skinny expensive high-end swimsuit

Material: 82% Nylon & 18% Elastane
Type: Two piece
Design point: Halter neck with criss cross rope tie back detail

Andrea Iyamah? More like Andrea Wooyah! Gorgeous design, daring prints and feisty cuts that leave your imagination swirling imesrun is one of the more this is what the most beautiful bathing suits are made of! Overall I can say that after trying on dozens of swimsuits, this one is my favourite active swimwear in a two piece. Period.

24. SHEKINI V-neck one piece women

Material: 82% Nylon, 18% Spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Open back

Looking for athletic swimwear in a one piece? Look no further, because you found it! This one has a very classic fit and doesn’t waste time on needless details — it is gorgeous completely on its own. The open back is simply TDF and I must admit that SHEKINI is one of the best swimsuit brands to buy in 2020. They offer the best value suits while making no compromises with quality.

25. Square neck women

Material: 80% nylon, 20% spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Looks like a two piece

Square neck is one of the best swimsuit styles in 2020. I was surprised to discover that this one is not a two piece, because it seemed to be in the photos — at least when you’re looking from the front. Don’t be fooled though, because after testing it in the local pool, I found out that this swimwear is fit for swimming, diving and surfing (possibly). It is very durable and doesn’t allow for any slip outs of any lady parts, which is great if you are an active chica at the beach.

26. Speedo one piece women

Material: 78% Econyl Recycled Nylon/22% Lycra Xtra Life Spandex
Type: One piece
Design point: Racing cut; high leg

What is a best swimsuits list without a Speedo one piece swimsuit? I figured I should review some super pro swimsuits suited for the competitive swimmer ladies on here and this was my top choice. It feels like a second skin, is very comfortable and allows for a wide range of motion in the water. It is a swimsuit made by swimmers, for swimmers — I expected nothing less from a competitive swimwear brand such as Speedo.

27. Speedo classic black women swimwear

Sale
Material: 100% Polyester
Type: One piece
Design point: Racing cut

One of the best Amazon swimsuits for athletes, this classic Speedo has a special place in my heart. It reminds me of when I used to swim as a kid after school — not much has changed design-wise since then. It is definitely the best swimsuit brand for water sports and one of the most durable ones as well. An interesting feature I discovered on this one is that it offers less resistance in the water than typical swimsuits (it was one of the few ones which I got wet). That was to be expected I suppose — Speedos are made by swimmers for swimmers.

28. Tempt Me High-neck cheap one piece swimsuit

Material: Smooth fabric material
Type: One piece
Design point: High-neck design

The high-neck one piece swimsuit is a design that’s been around for a few years now, but I feel like it’s gained more momentum in 2020. With this suit, Tempt Me has created a design that is as captivating as it is classical. It’s neckline plunges — but is covered by a fine mesh. It’s designed to hug a woman’s curves — but also has a ruched waist for an elegant look. This is one of those rare bathing suits for women that will turn heads while leaving enough to the imagination that even the most modest beach goer will feel comfortably, stylishly dressed.

29. Mix & Match High Waisted two piece black swimwear

Material: 82% Nylon & 18% Elastane
Type: Two-piece
Design point: Sweetheart neckline, high-waisted bikini

Mix and Match is fun. I personally like for my bikini tops and bottoms to match (call me old fashioned), but over the years I have seen some very stylish combinations at the beach. As I was scouring Amazon for the best value mix & match swimsuit brand, I came across Honlyps. They offer an intimidating range of bikinis to choose from, so there is a high chance that you’ll spend quite some time browsing. As for this model, high waisted bottoms are perfect if you want to cover your tummy but show off your thighs. Also also nice to note down that Honlyps is one of the best affordable swimsuit brands on this list, so mix and match away.

Methodology

You might be wondering how this article came into existence. Well, if that’s the casе, feel free to take a dive into my step-by-step process.

  1. I did some deep research into the trendiest swimsuit styles of 2020.
  2. I checked out which are the best swimsuit brands, then went around their websites to see what they are doing and how they are implementing the trends themselves.
  3. I headed to Amazon and started doing research on each separate trend, pinpointing the top performing swimsuits for each one.
  4. I made a preliminary list of the best swimsuits on Amazon for 2020. It had over 100 entries.
  5. I then skimmed through the list, showed some contenders to my colleagues and with their help I cut down the list to 50.
  6. We ordered the swimsuits and then the trying started — I personally tested each swimsuit to cut down even more and present you with the best final choices you can see on this page. I didn’t focus that much on expensive swimsuits, but instead looked at affordable options which still look luxurious.
  7. For the male swim trunks, I tortured my boyfriend to be my guinea pig. Luckily he didn’t show me the door but cooperated, giving me his sincere guy opinion.

And voila! There we have it. I tried to be as objective as possible and left only the ones that I found to be exceptional in some way.

Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose

What’s Your Body Type?

This is probably the most important question you should consider. Commit to finding the best swimsuit for your body shape and trust me, you will find great satisfaction. Think about things like: do you have a big or small bust? Are you in the shape of a pear, apple or another fruit? Are you curvy, do you want to conceal your tummy or another perceived imperfection? I often hear the question “What type of swimsuit makes you look thinner?” because there isn’t a single answer to that. All bodies are unique and as such we need to pay them the attention they deserve. Some helpful tips to note down are: always buy a smaller size when in doubt, as swimsuits expand in water and always tie the swimsuit tighter than comfortable. You probably know why.

One Piece? Two Piece?

Both one pieces and two pieces are stylish and have their pros and cons. Normally, when I am wondering which one to go for, I ask myself if I want to take leisurely swimming laps or bathe in the sun? Personally, I am obsessed with one piece suits. They are just so reliable and comfortable, and I don’t have to worry about my imperfections showing. If you share my love for comfort, run through the article again, as I have rounded up the best one piece swimsuits on Amazon — maybe you’ll like something out of there as well. If you like to soak in the sun — maybe two pieces are for you. There are some worthy contenders that I reviewed in this category as well.

What are the Biggest Season Trends?

I will keep this short and sweet. If you want trendy bathing suits, be on the lookout for tie-dye, polka dots, long sleeves, animal prints, high-waisted models and vintage-inspired patterns. These are also some of the best rated swimsuits on Amazon, so there is that as well.

Color?

My advice when choosing a color for your swimsuit? Match it with your skin tone. Generally, lighter colors make darker skins pop out more and vice versa. Luckily ladies swimsuits come in all colors and patterns, so dare to be bold with animal prints, floral print, polka dots, stripes and other wacky pattern combinations. Be careful when buying swimsuits with vibrant colors — make sure that their colorfastness is at the level you need.

What Brand of Swimsuit is the Best?

Looking for those swimsuit brands worthy of an Instagram flex? Or ones that celebrities wear? Some of the more popular are Solid & Striped, Hunza G, Mikoh, Mollusk, Montce, PrettyLittleThing and SilkWorld. Of course, you have to think about what you want to do with your swimsuit — basking in the sun or water activities? The best swimsuit brand for swimming has to be Speedo. For more sun-orientated activities, check out the ones listed above.

Final Verdict

From tie-dye, through long sleeves, polka dots, one pieces, two pieces and all that jazz — I hope this article proved to you what the best bathing suits for every beach body are. One of the key takeaways from the article is to be careful and not blindly go into trends — take the time to get acquainted with your body type and choose the right swimsuit that compliments it well.

My favourite from the list? The Andrea Iyamah gorgeous two piece. It will definitely be one of the several swimsuits I bring along on my summer getaway in a couple of weeks. Because for me the answer to “how many swimsuits should you own?” is always ‘Just one more’.

So there you have it, the best Amazon swimsuits for this year according to IFB. Tell me which picks you got your eyes on, I would be thrilled to hear your opinions and get a discussion going over the top trends this season. You think long sleeves are too much? Or that tie-dye is sooo early 2000’s? Let me know!

FAQ

Q: What swimsuits are in style 2020?
A: The preference is toward two pieces with quirky patterns, such as animal prints, polka dots, floral patterns and tie-dye. The racer back cutout swimsuit is also making a comeback and I discovered it is quite popular on Amazon. One pieces however are definitely swimsuits that never go out of style and we have been seeing some very brave designs, such as long sleeves, which are super in right now.

Q: What's new in swimwear?
A: Swimwear in 2020 is reinventing itself. We are seeing the comebacks of popular past designs, such as an underwire, high-waisted bottom, vintage style and ruffles. All the top swimsuits of 2020 have one or multiple of those features. A peculiar design that everyone is raving about (but I don’t particularly like) is the one-strap top. Personally I think it’s risky and uncomfortable, but hey, you ask what is new and I answer.

Q: What brand swimsuits do celebrities wear?
A: Celebrities wear swimsuit brands that will never go out of style. Think Solid & Striped, Hunza G, Mikoh, Mollusk, PrettyLittleThing… you know, the usuals. Honestly, every year we see them wear the exact same brands, so I do wish they spiced it up a little. It would be nice if their PR showed them this list so they could try something out of here — who knows, they might discover a new favorite.

Q: What is the most expensive swimsuit?
A: The most expensive swimsuit in the world is made of more than 150 carats of D flawless diamonds, The designers are Susan Rosen and Steinmetz Diamonds and you can get it for $30 million. The most expensive swimsuit on this list is a two piece Montce that costs $156.

Q: What is the most flattering bathing suit?
A: Depends on your body shape. If you are an apple, go for a one piece that provides solid tummy coverage and has loose straps, which won’t add volume to your shoulders. Typically, one pieces are very flattering, as they hide nearly all major imperfections a woman might obsess over. If you get one with a higher leg cut, your legs can appear slightly longer. However, you should always shop swimsuits by body type so this being said there isn’t one concrete answer to this question.

Q: What swimsuit is best for my body type?
A: Apple gals should go for one pieces, hourglasses are better off with classic, high-leg bikini and big bums look smashing in high-leg, high-waisted briefs. Girls with wider hips than their upper bodies (also known as pear shapes) are complimented well with ruffles, which offer an overall visual balance.

Q: Are one piece swimsuits in style?
A: Yes, yes, yes! Some of the best swimsuits are in fact one pieces. They are always in style — perky, cheeky and fun to wear. Also, they offer support, comfort and you can count on them on not to have any wardrobe malfunctions. The most popular swimsuit brands always offer one pieces in their lines and this wouldn’t be so if they weren't in style. If you checked out the article carefully, you can see which are the best one piece swimsuits and the best swimsuits of 2020, in general.
