One of the characteristics of the fashion blogging community is that we have a strong desire to be liked. I say this as compared to celebrity blogs, political blogs, hey, even tech blogs, all are here nor there with their stance on being liked. But to fashion bloggers, it's very important to be liked, and to not stir controversy.

I'm of two minds with that. I do enjoy being liked, and sometimes standing up for something can be scary. Especially if no one else is standing up. It's easy to join the mob of outrage or praise, then we're one voice among many.

But to be the one alone, takes courage. And it's commendable. It brings richness to our community when bloggers stand up and write about what they are passionate about. It brings depth to the community to explore new topics and new ideas.

So stand up, even if no one else is doing it yet. You might find that you plant the seed for a new crowd to form.
